With Attention! Alarm Manager Software, both the Server and all Collector Agents periodically send a heartbeat to the Attention! NS Server. A heartbeat is a short network message sent to Attention! NS that periodically verifies the operational status of the sending application. Should there be a problem with either the Attention! AM Server or any of the Collector Agents—or the hardware they are running on—the heartbeat will not be sent. This will result in immediate notification of the failure condition to designated personnel.
