GMSEC is a software message bus developed by NASA to support the reliable and secure exchange of information between mission-critical software components. The GMSEC architecture implements a publisher/subscriber protocol, with publishing applications writing messages to a GMSEC server, and subscribers retrieving messages addressed to a pre-defined Subject.

The Attention! AM GMSEC Agent subscribes to the GMSEC bus, accepting communications posted by GMSEC publishers. This data is then forwarded to the Attention! AM server for processing. When significant GMSEC messages are detected, the Attention! AM server forwards the user-defined alarm text to Attention! NS for real-time notification using pagers, cell phone text messaging, PDAs, etc.
