Since Attention! RT can serve two purposes—as a real-time emergency notification system, or a notification subscription application—it is important for Attention! RT administrators to choose the method of message delivery based on the type of communication being sent out.

For example, Attention! RT's ability to deliver wireless communications using the SMPP protocol is usually reserved for those messages of a critical nature. Since there is a small cost associated with every SMPP transmission, most organizations would not choose to deliver routine messages in this manner. They would probably opt for Email and/or Email to SMS gateway message delivery for the nice to know communications.
