Once the Attention! RT Administrator has defined the Subject hierarchy, and the users have subscribed to their desired Subjects, the system is ready to use. As important events occur, Attention! RT administrators will publish messages to the desired Subjects, providing immediate notification to all subscribed users.

In this example, a power failure has been detected in Building 2. An Attention! RT administrator will publish a message to the power failure Subject, located in the Alarms...Building 2 Subject tree. Any user subscribing to the Alarms...Building 2...power failure Subject will receive the message input by the Administrator.

In this situation, publishing the message was performed by an Attention! RT administrator, using the Attention! RT web interface. This message could have also been published under program control by interfacing the Attention! RT API to the power monitoring software application used in Building 2.
